Brett Hart

Brett joined the Cleary Hoare team in 1993, became a Principal in 1998 and has been Managing Principal since October 2004.

Over this period Brett has provided advice to private business clients in relation to income tax, stamp duty, estate and succession planning and business/investment structures. Brett is well known for his ability to simplify complex legislation, delivering no-nonsense solutions.

Financial Services Groups such as ASCPA Zurich, ING, AXA, AON and Financial Wisdom have leveraged off Brett's industry knowledge by requesting his services in the delivery of technical training to their Financial Planners, and as a service provider to their clients. Industry Groups such as the Australian Cane Farmers Association and Pharmacy Guild Financial Services have also benefited from Brett's experience through presentations to their members.

He is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.

Michael Hart

Michael Hart joined Cleary Hoare Solicitors in 1990. Since admission as a solicitor in 1969, Michael has practised extensively in trust law, tax law, stamp duty law, structures, superannuation, estate planning and asset protection. He is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.

Michael was a senior principal at a major law firm in Rockhampton for 15 years where he gained significant experience in dealing with the legal issues faced by primary producers and regional business operators.

As a Senior Principal at Cleary Hoare, the entire firm and the client base benefit from his wide-ranging experience in commerce and practical innovative problem solving. He is recognised as a specialist in his field and is a popular and frequent keynote speaker, lecturer, and workshop leader.

Domenic Festa

Domenic is a Principal at Cleary Hoare Solicitors. He joined the firm in 1996 after practising for 8 years as a Chartered Accountant. By utilising his experience in both accounting and taxation law, Domenic has developed an expertise in the more technical aspects of direct and indirect taxation including Capital Gains Tax and GST, bankruptcy law and business structures, in addition to the regulatory requirements of self-managed superannuation funds.

Within this field Domenic has the unique ability to apply the highly technical aspects of the law into solutions for clients. He drives the Cleary Hoare’s research and development program and is responsible for a large percentage of the firm’s new solutions for business owners and their families.

John Ioannou

John was admitted as a solicitor in 2002, joined the Cleary Hoare team at the start of 2003 and in 2007 became a Principal of the firm.

Throughout his career, John has gained experience in the areas of taxation, trusts, estate and succession planning. For the past four years, he has worked exclusively in these areas with private business owners, Accountants and Financial Advisers.

John has a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws, Masters of Laws and is currently completing a Masters of Tax. His strength is being able to quickly analyse the situation and develop a practical and individualised solution.

Graeme Yelland

Graeme Yelland joined Cleary Hoare as a senior consultant in 1998, bringing with him over 38 years of experience as a lawyer. A former General Counsel to the Banking Industry, Graeme is admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.

Graeme's expertise and focus on estate planning, wealth transfer planning, taxation, probate and small business planning means that his clients have access to the most appropriate and practical legal based solutions for their specific circumstances. Graeme is a frequent contributor of articles on his specialist areas to primary producer and small business publications. He regularly presents specialist Estate Planning Workshops and personal consultations to primary producers.

Chris Martinez

Chris was admitted as a solicitor in Queensland in 1972 and worked as a partner in a North Queensland legal firm for more than 25 years before joining Cleary Hoare in 2001.

He has extensive experience in commercial matters with particular emphasis on taxation. For a number years, he was the Queensland Law Society's representative for the North Queensland Regional Taxation Liaison Group.

Since joining Cleary Hoare, Chris has been able to improve his area of expertise in the fields of taxation and stamp duty, as well as the related areas of estate and succession planning.
